ZERO- STYROFOAM CERTIFICATION- GREEN masjid Initiative

AWI’s Zero Styrofoam Certification is a way to encourage and empower masajid in our communities toward sustainability principles when organizing events.

The Green Masjid Initiative by AWI advocates for local masajid to be certified Zero Styrofoam by Ramadan 2022.

After completing the form, you will be contacted by the Green Team to confirm your certification and receive your Zero Styrofoam Certification logo for your masjid which can be used on your website and social media. Do you give the Green Team permission to recognize your masjid on AWI and Shura Council website, newsletter, and/or social media? *

Before Agreeing to the following criteria, please note the resources you will need to meet the criteria by clicking on the buttons below.

The masjid has agreed to satisfy the following requirements to be certified to become ZERO STYROFOAM: *

"Stop using styrofoam in masjid. Remove all styrofoam products from masjid and use eco-friendly alternatives to styrofoam for food and beverage distribution starting Ramadan 2022 (suggested alternatives provided by AWI)" Work with Vendors and Include reqiredments to use eco-friendly alternatives to styrofoam at masjid events in vendor agreements (samples provided by AWI) Formally announce to the community via email, newsletter, website, and/or social media that the masjid is going “Zero Styrofoam” and inform the community that the masjid will no longer accept styrofoam based donations. Offer alternative options for the community to donate such as the “green alternatives” link below. (sample flyers provided to share on social media Green Masjid Initiative and Green Ramadan Pledge)
