What We Do

At the Art and Wilderness Institute "AWI", we are committed to connecting with nature, raising awareness and promoting values of stewardship through our outdoor, hands-on, “get muddy” learning philosophy. Students in our educational programming range from the budding two-year-old naturalist to the tenured retiree.

We also believe in giving back. Through a variety of projects and leadership opprotunities, students plant trees, raise oney to dig wells, assist refugees, and lead hikes for the elderly. We adhere to the belief that genuine learning is achieved through acts of stewardship and service. Collaborating with numerous partners, we actively contribute to making a wider positive impact. We are more than an Institute, we are community.

APRIL

Join the Co-Founders of AWI for an immersive, hands-on outdoor leadership training designed to equip you with the essential skills to lead in nature! Over the course of two transformative days, you'll dive into the principles of outdoor leadership, environmental stewardship, group dynamics, safety protocols, and practical outdoor skills as well as the Behind the Scenes of running programs and bringing your content to life in a meaningful way.

This comprehensive workshop is perfect for educators, nature guides, and anyone eager to lead with confidence in the wilderness.

By the end of the 2 day training, you'll earn 20 hours of certification from the Art and Wilderness Institute, boosting your expertise and enhancing your ability to inspire and lead others in nature. Whether you're looking to lead groups, expand your teaching toolkit, or deepen your connection with the natural world, this training will provide you with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to step into leadership roles in the outdoors.

Come and celebrate the end of the year with us.
As your kids have been earning points in various classes, they get to spend their points in our AWI points store.
The community has a potluck and we play house tournament games together! So much fun for the entire family.
