MENTORSHIP

Mentorship is an intensive leadership program for ages 8 to 13 designed to engage the student on a captivating adventure (in the field, in the arts,  culinary arts,  or land stewardship). The extreme fun of mentorship creates the inherent and natural desire to continue the assignments and learning independently. The relationship between the mentor and the mentee is ongoing, inside and outside of class, while cultivating a love for the environment and the community. Mentorship is where connections and lifelong friends are made. It's where magic happens and where a deep transformation occurs. It's where goals are set, made and accomplished. It's where a true and deep connection to the environment and each other happens!

This is a 7 week mentorship program that meets bi-weekly connecting students with the outer world and inner world, keeps  them sharp, flexible, ethical, and aware, while also  contributing to our community.
In this series students will explore how to live self-sufficiently and in harmony with nature in an urban setting. Students will learn aspects of how to grow their own food, tend to smaller farm animals, make efficient use of water resources, cook over a fire and more. While recognizing the connections that nature teaches us,  students  will learn everything from patience to kindness, gratitude to resiliency, build bonds, and more.

INTEREST FORM

PLEASE CONSIDER US FOR MENTORSHIP and ADD us to the INTEREST LIST!

This is not a REGISTRATION form. You will be contacted if your child is a suitable fit for this program.

Applicants will be notified by May 30 if they are in for the 2021-22 school year.

    MENTORSHIP INTEREST FORM
Please fill one out per student you wish to enroll.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST, PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE That you understand the following:

    • I understand that class time is full of various activities, and learning, students may have preparation work before class, follow up work, and homework to do.
    • I understand that this program is geared towards independent work and leadership and that this means I will encourage independent behavior from my children. I will not pack their supplies, bags, or water bottles, unpack their bags for them, or do anything that makes them more dependent. Sometimes they may forget their supplies, but I understand that they will learn the lesson from that on their own. I understand that the nature of this program is teaching them life skills and stewardship.
    • I understand that as of July 1st, 2021, all students enrolled in any class through Art and Wilderness Institute will need to complete a registration form and that registering is $25 for the family for the year and that will allow us to sign up for any classes through AWI. This fee is non-refundable and is a separate fee from the mentorship fee.
    • I understand that the instructor does her best to teach best safety practices and does her best to ensure the safety and well-being of each child. In order to create resilience and to foster learning and growth students will be working independently, and I accept the risk associated with this style of learning.
    • I understand that if accepted into the program, all payments or POs are due 2 weeks prior to the first day of each semester.

Completing this form puts you into the pool of students and you will be contacted in the coming weeks for further steps. This program has limited spots and filling this out does not guarantee acceptance in the program.  Only serious students should apply!

Thank you for filling this out! You may now submit the form!
