Khalifa in the Garden
Mona has used her regenerative farming training and permaculture knowledge to create a food forest in her backyard. During these two weekends, students will tend to the garden alongside her learning how to act as a responsible and caring khalifa, inheritor, of the Earth. They'll learn how to prune fruit trees, why mulching is important, different ways to compost, how to plant and support vegetables and flowers at different stages of growth, the method of respectful harvest, sacred invocations and remembrance to express gratitude and humility, identify mystery trees and mushrooms using books and much more. There is always something new to be discovered and learned from the ayahs within the garden.
Students will be encouraged to spend this time barefoot, or with thin socks and will be on their knees and using their hands so wear appropriate clothing.
Parents are welcome to stay and lounge on the porch.
The entire household is vaccinated.
