​Join the Co-Founders of AWI for an immersive, hands-on outdoor leadership training designed to equip you with the essential skills to lead in nature! Over the course of two transformative days, you'll dive into the principles of outdoor leadership, environmental stewardship, group dynamics, safety protocols, and practical outdoor skills as well as the Behind the Scenes of running programs and bringing your content to life in a meaningful way.

This comprehensive workshop is perfect for educators, nature guides, and anyone eager to lead with confidence in the wilderness. This is open to adults, however, High School students who are serious in learning how to lead may also apply.

By the end of the 2 day training, you'll earn 20 hours of certification from the Art and Wilderness Institute, boosting your expertise and enhancing your ability to inspire and lead others in nature. Whether you're looking to lead groups, expand your teaching toolkit, or deepen your connection with the natural world, this training will provide you with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to step into leadership roles in the outdoors.

SPECIAL GUEST PRESENTER (SUNDAY) 
​Dr. Omar Ezzeldine

Dr. Omar Ezzeldine is the Director of Operations and Community
Engagement at Rahma Center. Omar has a doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCLA and decades of experience as an educator, administrator, and community leader.

Prior to his current role, he was a Director of Human Resources for the Santa Ana Unified School District, where he supported the district’s 54 school sites constituting approximately 5,000 staff and 39,000
students for almost six years. He has also been an adjunct professor at USC for over 12 years. 

Early in his career, he helped establish New Horizon Irvine and served as the first director of the elementary school program. He is also the founder and executive director of Camp Izza, the Youth Spiritual Summit. 

These programs have touched and enriched hundreds of families in our community. Omar is a dedicated husband to Dr. Munira Lekovic Ezzeldine and their three kids, Yusuf, Zayd and Ali.​

This training is intended for Adults 18+....  however High school students who are serious about leadership may also register




WHERE TO STAY

If flying in from out of town, you can look up hotels or VRBOs in Lake Forest or Trabuco Canyon Area

We apologize but we no longer have campsite options available

SCHEDULE


Saturday will be focused on learning how to read the land, ecology, and basic outdoor skills

Sunday will be learning how to lead, teambuilding skills and behind the scenes of Outdoor classes

2. At the training, attend the session on Naturalist in Residence Program and learn more on becoming an AWI Ambassador
(Lead one hike a month as an AWI ambassador for your community for 1 year in your area) *certain guidelines must be followed.
